times seriously flies! i'm already in my fourth week in Brisbane! :)
2nd week of school already. so that means the commencement of tutorials.
:: Monday ::
Tutorial at 12 followed by lecture at 2 and that's all for the day. Tutorial was well... ok. not the best tutor cos he's chinese and he can't pronounce his words very well but it's manageable. I've come to realise that most people don't do tutorials and sit in tutorials just to get the answer or listen to explanations whatsoever. I think i was the only one to do the tutorial questions. Even my fellow Singaporean friend didn't do it. TSK! and well, i think i was among 3 persons in the class that could speak up and answer. how sad huh. anyways, lecture followed and i still think this lecturer for financial reporting is about the best lecturer i have for this semester! :) she makes me listen.
And then it's home sweet home!
:: Tuesday ::
NO SCHOOL TODAY! yayy! but i woke up early because the boys came over to park their car here to go to school and they came early cos david had class at 12. and not to mention i slept really late the night before. Well.. I was nice because since i didn't have school today, i opened the door for them while Daisy could sleep in since she's got class at 10. Daniel too had class at 10 so they were going to walk to school together. and while daniel was here, it wouldn't be too nice for me to leave him alone so i accompanied him and made breakfast for him. see. that's why they call me the mom! haha. i take care of them, i FEED them! :) made french toasts and hashbrowns for him! haha. and it's hilarious when he applied kaya on the hashbrown thinking that it's just another french toast! haha.
so i spent the time talking to daniel about quite a lot of things until it was time for him to go to school. anyways, they were all going to come back for lunch at my place. vanessa was going to come over as well. so yeap, instead of hitting the bed, i decided to start cooking lunch! :) see so mummy-like right? heh. and when i was done with lunch, or rather preparing what i could prepare, it was back to the couch for a snooze. 1 hr before they all come back. got up only when they arrived. waited for david to come before cooking the veggies and then it's lunch time! yay!
after that hung around till about 2ish before vanessa and daniel headed back for school! heh. and dinner again was at my place la. so we hung out the whole day. after dinner was rushing tutorials time! haha. everyone was seriously studying! so condusive man. and i was out in the balcony doing my tutorials. it was really refreshing. nice cool weather and great company so you won't get bored.
:: wednesday ::
sadly, i had to skip school today because the recurring cold gave way today. and i was aching all over that i just couldn't take it. probably due to the lack of sleep the night before and so there was a break out. i felt really bad and kept wanting to wake up to attend the next lesson but i couldn't drag myself out of bed... when i finally woke up at like 2ish, it was way too late to even attend my last lecture so i decided to stay in. i was still so tired. made lunch for myself and then it was straight to the books. since i hadn't attended school, i decided i should do some self study. and of cos had to take medication to surpress the illness.
and so today was quiet day for daisy and i. stayed home to do our work. and then daisy cooked dinner! hmm... i took my leftover porridge while she made kimchi noodles for herself. and well we had chicken nuggets as well. :)
:: thursday ::
dragged myself out of bed and headed to school. i was 5mins late for my lecture but what the heck. i made it to school! haha. i'm not lazy! but well, i missed the first lecture. hahahaha. but but but! that didn't mean i didn't attend it! cos there was a second lecture after this one and yep, i attended it with astralyn. seee.... good planning. haha. at times when i cannot wake up on thursday, i have a back up plan. *winks.
and then... when jolene was saying this time the 6hr syndrome didn't ring true (the twins and the four girls will always meet up after 6hrs of absence), david told me on msn that they were going to go running to our place. hahaha! and then as the 3 girls of the manors were craving tau huay, we proposed to go sunnybank and they agreed! hahaha. they have submitted themselves to the temptation of DESSERT! but this time we called vanessa along! heh. or else sure kena 'hoot'!
and finally today we had tau huay at this taiwanese dessert place in sunnybank. :) mmm... satisfying. however, it tastes different but very very close. nostalgic! anyhow, we also had the shaved ice which was fabulous. and obviously, many great laughs! simply love the company!
:: friday ::
again! no school! YAYY! and today we were going to go to the city for some shopping. i slept late the night before again and couldn't wake up early enough. haha. so we kept dragging our meeting time until jolene was done with school so we waited for her and headed to the city together. went to have korean cuisine! ooooh! so nice! :)
after that we went to the asian market to get some stuff, jolene wanted to get kaya but they didn't sell it but we all ended up buying something. jolene got red bean ice cream, vanessa and i got hello panda. but i don't think daisy got anything.
then it was back to queen st to do shopping! vanessa needed to get some stuff at myer while daisy needed to get some vitamins at the pharmacy so we split ways so that we can quickly get all those things done. i followed vanessa to get "benefit" cosmetics. they were really cool! but it was way too expensive man. she's a rich girl! tsk tsk.
after that we went to body shop. this was when we couldn't resist and started trying a lot of stuff! and then i bought some stuff as well. haha. shit man.
then went to the pharmacy, went to buy foot file while vanessa bought nail polish. then we went to meet up with jolene and daisy and went for MORE SHOPPING. went to harvey norman first to find some cable for daniel but they didn't have it to we just continued our shopping. went to cotton on and then got stuck in there for quite a long time and then it was off to rubi shoes which we ended up not buying anything and then vanessa went to buy her go card.
then we were hungry! so it was time for dinner! hmm.. went to little singapore! yeah. it was really crowded! so we had to wait for like 10-15mins for a table. we ordered two portions of food since the servings were large and we weren't too hungry. and guess what, it was still really filling! I had milk tea and it was simple sensational! hahaha.
after that we noticed that the shops were still opened so we continued some shopping. but ended up not buying anything.
then we felt it's about time since most of the shops were closing so we ended up taking the bus to go back.
and then... the boys finished their cell group meeting. we were supposed to go for supper. but then we suggested coming over to my place to catch a movie. vanessa would bring some over and then we could hang out. that was the plan... and then 20mins later vanessa tells me they're going to abandon the plan. so like.. wth?! haha. then i called them once more to convince them and then they got on their way to my place and to pick vanessa up. heh.
we watched ip man. it was fantastic! oh yeah, we opened up the pull-out couch into a bed and lay down on it. :) then had snacks and all. not to mention, that night's weather was really cooling. the lowest temp for the night was 19degrees. shiok!

:: Saturday ::
woke up early this morning to go marketing at the saturday with jolene. daisy wasn't feeling well so she didn't come with us. plan was to meet the twins at 8.30 at west end. but because we got there earlier, then jolene and i got down to buying our groceries first. and we have concluded that we must go there early to get all the freshest and nicest veggies and fruits! yumm... by the time we were almost done, then the twins arrived.
so we helped them get what the want and then it was time for brekky! yeah. we had lepeny, curry puffs, cinammon roll, crepes and lemonade! what a feast! too bad i don't have photos of it! perhaps on the next visit. heh. but we bought lots of veggies and we were proud of our buy! sambal kangkong! shiok!
then we went home via the citycat and the moment i got home, quickly put everything into the fridge, showered and then it was KNOCK OUT time. haha. i slept all the way till like 4! haha. and then i called mommy to ask her how to cook beef soup and chicken curry! haha. then i called my grandma to talk for a bit. after that called jk and talked for about half an hour before i had to go off to cook since they were going to come over for dinner then head out for a movie! yeahhh. rushed to cook, rushed to eat...
and then rushed to the movies. hahahaha. with daniel's oh so powerful driving man! haha. all that skidding and sharp turns. woohoo! haha. missed a little of the show but got there almost in time still. it was a great movie i must say. confessions of a shoppaholic! happy that i watched it.
after the movie, we dropped vanessa off at ken's place in taringa, very near to indooroopilly before going back to our place.. then boys came up to sit and chat for awhile, to collect their laundry and to have ice cream! yeah. :) had a great night on the balcony again. chit chatting and relaxing. i like...

went to church this morning. i almost couldn't wake up! haha. for once i had no choice but just head to church without showering. felt so icky but i had NO CHOICE. i didn't even hear my alarm man. that was how tired i was i guess. after mass went to toowong with jolene to get paper and some other stuff. then headed back home. then it was off to bed once again. haha.
i was supposed to be studying today but i just couldnt get the urge to so i just napped and relaxed. so i'll have to be rushing tutorials tonight. thank goodness my lesson tomorrow's at noon!
alrighties... off to prepare dinner. vanessa's coming over soon! :)Week 3

:: Monday ::
First day of school! Left the house earlier to meet Daniel and Jolene for lunch! When Daisy and I got to school, went to look for Jolene and Daniel and he got some of his law friends together to join us for lunch as well. Daniel Law (whom we've already met at the bbq), charles (met earlier at orientation), hari and two other girls (i forgot their names). We ended up sitting at the great court eating the lunches that we've prepared. Eating out is too expensive and to save cost, we have to pack lunches everyday. :) And so i packed the sweet potato porridge that i cooked the night before. Damn Daniel had a taste of it and complained of taste deficiencies. Aye! too much salt and you'll be bald i swear!
Anyways, here are some photos from the luncheon. It was a beautiful day and we had a great time before Daisy and I headed off to lecture nearby.

Lecture that day was alright. The lecturer was a Honkie but a good lecturer and explained well and at a comfortable pace. Appreciated it. And that was all for the day. First week of school means no tutorials. :)
:: Tuesday ::
I have no school today because I only have a three day week! Yayy! So after their lessons, the rest of them came over to my place to accompany me to study! heh. so nice right. but yeah. daniel kept saying it's not condusive and I do agree because some people tend to get distracted/distract people. hahaha. not the mention, the scorching sun that heats up my living room. But yeah, we had a good time and well, it was great company... Always has been! =) cooked dinner and then we had an emo night on the balcony man! thanks to SOMEBODY. but we all had a great heart-to-heart talk and started getting to know each other better.
:: Wednesday ::
Only one lecture today and it's at 2pm. Obviously it meant waking up later and taking my own sweet time. I got there about 5mins late for lecture and I wasn't the latest! haha. Astralyn came in later than me so i saved her a seat but it was right at the back. It was torturous during the lecture because the lecturer didn't like using the mic and it was a huge lecture theatre. Struggled to listen till one of the Aussie students complained so she had no choice but to use the mic. I swear she was being very intermittent it was a put off! Then she was fine for awhile until she started moving away from the mic again. She's so fidgetty! It's quite annoying actually. Not the greatest lecturer... But bearable. And then again, that was it for the day.
:: Thursday ::
Today is lecture day... With two lectures in a row! doosh! It was quite tiring by the end of it but I guess it was still manageable. And I kind of like the idea that I have no breaks in between lessons all the time. Lessons tend to end earlier than expected, so there's always ample time for you to get to your next class (which you still can leave the earlier class if the lecturer/tutor ends late) and definitely enough time for you to have a munch break. In between breaks I met Vanessa and David at the union centre although I almost missed them had they not called out to me. That's cos I was on the phone... Sat with them and talked while I had my lunch before heading to my next lecture.
After my lecture, I went to meet Limin at the UQ Ferry Terminal! Yay! she was visiting some friends in Brisbane and also discovering whether this place was where she'd want to go to get her degree. And soo... I had the honour of taking her around that day. We walked around the uni for a bit before heading to the bus stop to take a bus to indooroopilly shopping centre. :) caught up for a bit and well... simply enjoyed each other's company. Not to mention, some shopping as well! Then we had tea at a cafe and had cakes with cuppacino! yeah. luxurious man. haha.
Had to head back to school for the Credit Suisse information session at 5.30pm so we left at about 5.10pm. Was a bit late for the information session cos Limin wanted to take some photos in school. :) She was too paiseh to take earlier because of the number of people in school. and by 5+, there usually isn't much people left. So yeap! took some photos before i headed her in the direction of the Ferry Terminal before i left for the information session.
Attended the Credit Suisse information session and learnt more about the company and the available jobs and internships. Availability is limited and competition is stiff in this economy. But nevertheless, I might give the application a shot. If i do get it, then I will be back in Singapore at the end of the year to do a summer internship.
The session ended early and then Daisy and I headed back to our apartment to meet up with the rest of them. Heh. David, Jolene and Daisy cooked dinner that night. Yummm... And then we had a good time as usual. Yeah. I simply enjoy the times that we hang out! It simply takes our minds off troubles and emotional moments. Love you guys to bits! :)
By the way, we were supposed to go over to their place for dinner but because of the info session that Daisy and I were going to attend (it was supposed to end at 7.30pm but ended at 6.30pm) so David decided to bring the food over to our place and hung out there.
:: Friday ::
No school today! Yeahhh. TGIF! =D Asked Daniel and David to bring us grocery shopping so we went to indoorool. AND I DROVE THEIR CAR! haha. the steering a bit shit la but the car was alright for a 21yr old car! and it's 4wd so damn shiok to drift/turn. heh. when we got to indoorool, tried to find paper at Kmart but they were out of stock. And then went to find the brothers at Harvey Norman cos David wanted to buy speakers. Saw paper there but i refused to buy because they were too expensive! But well, david bought his speakers and Daniel bought a computer game (I swear guys who play games and are glued to their computers simply have no life! - it's not true that you're finding life by playing games)
Then we went to a sport shop so that jolene could buy her stuff. Was there till they closed and then went to Woolly's to get our groceries. Spent a good deal of money there but we had to restock so we didn't have much of a choice. Thank god I don't have a fussy and calculative house mate though! Right Daisy? haha. we share almost everything. Especially the things in the kitchen! So we save a great deal of money but enjoy the fooood.
After that we headed back to our apartment to cook dinner and to meet Vanessa. This time I cooked and we made it a fast dinner before we headed back to indoorool for our friday movie night! yayy! I simply love it. We were going to watch slumdog millionaire. It's really good that students only pay $6.50 for a movie ticket. awesome dawsome! :D
I must say I really enjoyed the movie and so did everyone else. Although it's an indian film, the cast was really good with their acting and the story line was just enriching. You get a mix of feelings which really makes you think and that's what a great movie is all about right? And then Daniel and I had this discussion: The movie was good and especially for Asian standards. I replied and said, "That's why they have Bollywood. US have hollywood. But Singapore has no __wood. Oh maybe have... Only Woodlands". And then we laughed it off and ended the night.
:: Saturday ::
We were supposed to go Sunnybank but then we ended up just staying home. Daisy and i woke up late that day... But we did some work (tutorials mainly) and some studying before meeting Daniel across the Eleanor Schonell Bridge to go over to their place for dinner. It was a good half an hour walk but it was the first time I'd walk across the bridge. It was breezy and a good walk. Good exercise too! Daniel already got there by the time we reached so we set off to their place! Gosh we had to drive by the cemetry to get to their place and it was rather scary.. Can't imagine those people who lived facing the cemetries. Guess they're not so afraid and superstitious as Singaporeans huh? Haha. But I swear the houses looked old, dull and dark! Like so typical...
When I got to their place, I came to learn that Jackson's father has passed on.. And I was rather affected for a moment. Only learning that something drastic had happened in his life and now he has to deal with his father's death. Him being the figure of support in his family and at only 21, having to deal with all these difficult challenges... I feel sad for him. I feel so fortunate that I have such a happy life and family. I cannot imagine losing my parents now. I'll lose my mind!
Well, we got on with cooking dinner with Vanessa and I helping Daniel cook dinner and Jolene bugging to help because she couldn't sit still. But by the time their cartoon movie was aired on TV, they scooted off while I was left preparing dinner with Daniel. Haha. and for once it's Daniel preparing dinner, not David.
Dinner was quite delicious I must say. That's cos we used the Lee Kum Kee sauce for the chicken with veggies. Haha. Cheated. But I made the grilled fish and it turned out perfect! haha. that was rather satisfying. Daniel and Jolene made the Sesame Rice which needed more flavour but it was still alright.
Sat by the TV during dinner watching the cartoon movie before we adjorned to Daniel's room to discuss about our mid-sem break's plans! YEAH! Seems like moreton bay will be our destination. So Jolene and Daniel got off looking for accommodation while Vanessa, Daisy and David were looking at photos of the island and stuff. I sat there looking at Daniel's stuff! RANSACK! haha. no la. didn't pry into his personal stuff lah. not unless he consented to it! And also got busy with Vanessa's iphone playing "Dactyl" and trying to beat her high score. :) introduced the game to her and she's been all caught up with it as well! haha. And not to mention, taking photos with the twins' SLR!
After that, we headed out to the city to Pancake Manors for supper! yummm! Although we were not that hungry, it was an experience and we enjoyed the food! haha. jolene was so tired and we managed to get her out at such an "ungodly hour" by her dictionary. haha. nevertheless, we had a great time and debating about "whether or not clubbing was a bad thing" and i guess i silenced daniel. Although he said that he just didn't want to say more. haha. it was an interesting debate I must say. And really, the night was just enjoyable la. Good laughs, good jokes, good company, great friends!

Although we hung out late the night before, Jolene and I (more surprisingly, me) managed to get up early enough to go for morning mass. Our first morning mass! haha. indeed the morning mass was a little more crowded but well, it was hot having to walk up the hill when the sun was up! and going home wasn't any better although it was downslope! anyways, this girl was so forgetful as to leave her house (locking her doors) without her keys! and so she was fretting and praying extra hard at mass for help! On the way to church, I called Daniel to ask for help... And to see if there was any other suggestions for solutions. They offered to come down and take a look and see what they could do. So we headed to church and attended mass while Jolene was lost in her thoughts.
Stopped by the bakery on the way back from church to get breakfast but Jolene was too caught up with her being locked out of the house that i was left to have breakfast on my own. Saw the twins' drove past and so we rushed back to meet them. Saw them by Jolene's balcony and they said there wasn't anything they could do. So they tried again and again and FINALLY! they managed to break into her house and a heavy sigh of relief she breathed. Then Daniel was off to his rock climbing session while David and Jolene came up to my place to study.
I was printing my notes and in and out of naps (woke up early for church ok! GOD FIRST). But in between the naps i managed to do my tutorials while David was studying. Then we suggested going to Sunnybanks that evening for dinner and for chinese grocery shopping. Jolene wanted to give the boys a treat for helping her get into her apartment too! :) And so I called Daniel to see if he was agreeable to it or not and he was! haha. of cos David teased him la. But it was all set! YAY! So then i was back to my books before it got too tiring and i fell asleep after David tempted me to sleep! haha. he went to lie down on the sofa to sleep so i went back into my room and knocked out!
Woke up at about 6ish and called Daniel and he was just about done with church. So waited for him to come over before we headed out to Sunnybank for dinner. Took awhile to find he place but we found it! haha. went grocery shopping first before they closed at 8.30pm although we were all very hungry already. yuen's market really had some good chinese stuff so we enjoyed ourselves shopping there and started thinking of nice chinese food to cook! hahaha. spent a good deal of moolah there too man. but all worth it!
After that it was off to a Malaysian restaurant for dinner. the food was good! but daniel was damn suay! haha. he ordered the green curry and it was so salty and didn't taste anything near to what it should taste like man. haha. but well, our portions were so huge so jolene and i shared some of our food with him. haha. and we were all so full still!
nevertheless, we had to get some dessert so we walked round the corner for dessert! it was taiwanese desserts! damn shiok! haha. and then we had many good laughs with the Mc___whatever. and the funniest was "Mc Gie Mee" haha. thanks Daniel, you make me laugh. and we all agreed we have to go back there someday. Ohhh.. and David kope-ed a spoon la. Damn naughty!
After that Daniel drove us home and that was it for the night! All set for another week of school ahead!Week 2
First day of school! Left the house earlier to meet Daniel and Jolene for lunch! When Daisy and I got to school, went to look for Jolene and Daniel and he got some of his law friends together to join us for lunch as well. Daniel Law (whom we've already met at the bbq), charles (met earlier at orientation), hari and two other girls (i forgot their names). We ended up sitting at the great court eating the lunches that we've prepared. Eating out is too expensive and to save cost, we have to pack lunches everyday. :) And so i packed the sweet potato porridge that i cooked the night before. Damn Daniel had a taste of it and complained of taste deficiencies. Aye! too much salt and you'll be bald i swear!
Anyways, here are some photos from the luncheon. It was a beautiful day and we had a great time before Daisy and I headed off to lecture nearby.

Lecture that day was alright. The lecturer was a Honkie but a good lecturer and explained well and at a comfortable pace. Appreciated it. And that was all for the day. First week of school means no tutorials. :)
:: Tuesday ::
I have no school today because I only have a three day week! Yayy! So after their lessons, the rest of them came over to my place to accompany me to study! heh. so nice right. but yeah. daniel kept saying it's not condusive and I do agree because some people tend to get distracted/distract people. hahaha. not the mention, the scorching sun that heats up my living room. But yeah, we had a good time and well, it was great company... Always has been! =) cooked dinner and then we had an emo night on the balcony man! thanks to SOMEBODY. but we all had a great heart-to-heart talk and started getting to know each other better.
:: Wednesday ::
Only one lecture today and it's at 2pm. Obviously it meant waking up later and taking my own sweet time. I got there about 5mins late for lecture and I wasn't the latest! haha. Astralyn came in later than me so i saved her a seat but it was right at the back. It was torturous during the lecture because the lecturer didn't like using the mic and it was a huge lecture theatre. Struggled to listen till one of the Aussie students complained so she had no choice but to use the mic. I swear she was being very intermittent it was a put off! Then she was fine for awhile until she started moving away from the mic again. She's so fidgetty! It's quite annoying actually. Not the greatest lecturer... But bearable. And then again, that was it for the day.
:: Thursday ::
Today is lecture day... With two lectures in a row! doosh! It was quite tiring by the end of it but I guess it was still manageable. And I kind of like the idea that I have no breaks in between lessons all the time. Lessons tend to end earlier than expected, so there's always ample time for you to get to your next class (which you still can leave the earlier class if the lecturer/tutor ends late) and definitely enough time for you to have a munch break. In between breaks I met Vanessa and David at the union centre although I almost missed them had they not called out to me. That's cos I was on the phone... Sat with them and talked while I had my lunch before heading to my next lecture.
After my lecture, I went to meet Limin at the UQ Ferry Terminal! Yay! she was visiting some friends in Brisbane and also discovering whether this place was where she'd want to go to get her degree. And soo... I had the honour of taking her around that day. We walked around the uni for a bit before heading to the bus stop to take a bus to indooroopilly shopping centre. :) caught up for a bit and well... simply enjoyed each other's company. Not to mention, some shopping as well! Then we had tea at a cafe and had cakes with cuppacino! yeah. luxurious man. haha.
Had to head back to school for the Credit Suisse information session at 5.30pm so we left at about 5.10pm. Was a bit late for the information session cos Limin wanted to take some photos in school. :) She was too paiseh to take earlier because of the number of people in school. and by 5+, there usually isn't much people left. So yeap! took some photos before i headed her in the direction of the Ferry Terminal before i left for the information session.
Attended the Credit Suisse information session and learnt more about the company and the available jobs and internships. Availability is limited and competition is stiff in this economy. But nevertheless, I might give the application a shot. If i do get it, then I will be back in Singapore at the end of the year to do a summer internship.
The session ended early and then Daisy and I headed back to our apartment to meet up with the rest of them. Heh. David, Jolene and Daisy cooked dinner that night. Yummm... And then we had a good time as usual. Yeah. I simply enjoy the times that we hang out! It simply takes our minds off troubles and emotional moments. Love you guys to bits! :)
By the way, we were supposed to go over to their place for dinner but because of the info session that Daisy and I were going to attend (it was supposed to end at 7.30pm but ended at 6.30pm) so David decided to bring the food over to our place and hung out there.
:: Friday ::
No school today! Yeahhh. TGIF! =D Asked Daniel and David to bring us grocery shopping so we went to indoorool. AND I DROVE THEIR CAR! haha. the steering a bit shit la but the car was alright for a 21yr old car! and it's 4wd so damn shiok to drift/turn. heh. when we got to indoorool, tried to find paper at Kmart but they were out of stock. And then went to find the brothers at Harvey Norman cos David wanted to buy speakers. Saw paper there but i refused to buy because they were too expensive! But well, david bought his speakers and Daniel bought a computer game (I swear guys who play games and are glued to their computers simply have no life! - it's not true that you're finding life by playing games)
Then we went to a sport shop so that jolene could buy her stuff. Was there till they closed and then went to Woolly's to get our groceries. Spent a good deal of money there but we had to restock so we didn't have much of a choice. Thank god I don't have a fussy and calculative house mate though! Right Daisy? haha. we share almost everything. Especially the things in the kitchen! So we save a great deal of money but enjoy the fooood.
After that we headed back to our apartment to cook dinner and to meet Vanessa. This time I cooked and we made it a fast dinner before we headed back to indoorool for our friday movie night! yayy! I simply love it. We were going to watch slumdog millionaire. It's really good that students only pay $6.50 for a movie ticket. awesome dawsome! :D
I must say I really enjoyed the movie and so did everyone else. Although it's an indian film, the cast was really good with their acting and the story line was just enriching. You get a mix of feelings which really makes you think and that's what a great movie is all about right? And then Daniel and I had this discussion: The movie was good and especially for Asian standards. I replied and said, "That's why they have Bollywood. US have hollywood. But Singapore has no __wood. Oh maybe have... Only Woodlands". And then we laughed it off and ended the night.
:: Saturday ::
We were supposed to go Sunnybank but then we ended up just staying home. Daisy and i woke up late that day... But we did some work (tutorials mainly) and some studying before meeting Daniel across the Eleanor Schonell Bridge to go over to their place for dinner. It was a good half an hour walk but it was the first time I'd walk across the bridge. It was breezy and a good walk. Good exercise too! Daniel already got there by the time we reached so we set off to their place! Gosh we had to drive by the cemetry to get to their place and it was rather scary.. Can't imagine those people who lived facing the cemetries. Guess they're not so afraid and superstitious as Singaporeans huh? Haha. But I swear the houses looked old, dull and dark! Like so typical...
When I got to their place, I came to learn that Jackson's father has passed on.. And I was rather affected for a moment. Only learning that something drastic had happened in his life and now he has to deal with his father's death. Him being the figure of support in his family and at only 21, having to deal with all these difficult challenges... I feel sad for him. I feel so fortunate that I have such a happy life and family. I cannot imagine losing my parents now. I'll lose my mind!
Well, we got on with cooking dinner with Vanessa and I helping Daniel cook dinner and Jolene bugging to help because she couldn't sit still. But by the time their cartoon movie was aired on TV, they scooted off while I was left preparing dinner with Daniel. Haha. and for once it's Daniel preparing dinner, not David.
Dinner was quite delicious I must say. That's cos we used the Lee Kum Kee sauce for the chicken with veggies. Haha. Cheated. But I made the grilled fish and it turned out perfect! haha. that was rather satisfying. Daniel and Jolene made the Sesame Rice which needed more flavour but it was still alright.
Sat by the TV during dinner watching the cartoon movie before we adjorned to Daniel's room to discuss about our mid-sem break's plans! YEAH! Seems like moreton bay will be our destination. So Jolene and Daniel got off looking for accommodation while Vanessa, Daisy and David were looking at photos of the island and stuff. I sat there looking at Daniel's stuff! RANSACK! haha. no la. didn't pry into his personal stuff lah. not unless he consented to it! And also got busy with Vanessa's iphone playing "Dactyl" and trying to beat her high score. :) introduced the game to her and she's been all caught up with it as well! haha. And not to mention, taking photos with the twins' SLR!
After that, we headed out to the city to Pancake Manors for supper! yummm! Although we were not that hungry, it was an experience and we enjoyed the food! haha. jolene was so tired and we managed to get her out at such an "ungodly hour" by her dictionary. haha. nevertheless, we had a great time and debating about "whether or not clubbing was a bad thing" and i guess i silenced daniel. here's what week 2 in brisbane was like for me.
::Monday::
Went to school for orientation together with Daisy, Vanessa and Jolene. Met Daniel and David in school and some other friends. Vanessa and Jolene were rekindling with their friends from foundation. So well, got to know more people from there. Orientation was simply talks after talks. They make it compulsory but there's seriously no way they're going to know if you skip the talk or not. Well, actually for orientation, all you need to do is plan your own orientation schedules. There are a lists of talks going on and you choose which to go for. Obviously they'll say it's compulsory so that you'll attend them but this is uni. If you want to, you go. If you don't, they're not going to stop you.
So well, I shall not elaborate much on what orientation was like. it was just boring, lengthy talks. But it was great hanging out with the whole bunch.
We had lunch in school at the pizza cafe. :) It was pretty good food I must say.
::Tuesday::
Back to school for orientation. Was a little late so we were standing at the back of the lecture theatre and there were tonnes of people still thronging in. We ended up sitting along the steps. haha. but it was an interesting talk about the aussie environment and safety in the country. learnt a fair bit from there. rather useful! =) then we went for the getting started session that followed but it was boring because we already knew those stuff.
Then we went off to toowong to have lunch at jackpot noodles. vanessa met naomi there to get their bond refunded at the post office. while i followed jolene to get her telephone line connected.

Went to school for market day and then for one last talk... catered specially for the bachelor of commerce and business management students. market day was really crowded! and lots of freebies given out and all the barbeque pits were all around school! haha. this is pretty much what we call a CCA drive in Singapore. So there were all the clubs and societies trying to pull you to join them. And mind you, you have to pay for the membership. Some are reasonably priced while the rest were exorbitantly priced. Explained why so far we haven't decided to join sailing officially. After joining some of the clubs and gotten sick of the crowd and searching for activities, it was about time for the talk so vanessa, daisy, david and i went to attend it. then after the talk david went off for his econs talk while the three of us went to find jolene at the track but she was not done by the time we got to the track so we went home first. :)
:: Thursday ::
daisy's parents were leaving today so we went to get the last minute stuff like fans and books! first things first we went to QU books in toowong to get our textbooks. supposed to meet daniel and david there but they didn't get there in time (cos daniel was taking his own sweet time bathing). so we decided to meet at toowong. searched kmart for the fans but they ran out of it so we rushed to indooroopilly. so we ended up meeting them there. instead of searching kmart, we started off at target since we were parked in the basement. found the fans there so we bought 3 (one for me, one for daisy and one for jolene) then went to woolly's to get the other groceries. :) after that it was back to my place to test those fans. hahas. the guys were really helpful. they fixed up the fans for us and it was all set to go! weeee... so daisy and her parents went off to the city to return the car and go shopping i think. haha. and soooo... jolene came back to the manors to meet us and so did vanessa. and since it was still quite early and thursday's late night shopping, we decided to go ahead with our plans to go to DFO! that's the factory outlet by the brisbane airport! YAYY!

made lots of noise and cracked lots of jokes in the car. we had an exciting time! haha. shopping was alright but it wasn't that great. maybe cos i wasn't really in the shopping mood. oh yeah. we had lunch there. subway! hahas. shared with jolene. and it was hella filling still. :) cookies were yummy of cos. well then we decided to have dinner at my place cos i promised to cook them my speciality, SPAGHETTI! yummm... so went to woolly's to get some of the ingredients. heh.
so we had spagehetti (with my home-made tomato-based sauce), oven-baked portabello mushrooms with butter and mozerella cheese (courtesy of daniel) and boiled veggies! and we laughed and talked the night away! absolutely fabulous time well spent with everyone. oh yeah. not to forget trying to take the loneliness away from daisy cos her parents have left!
:: Friday ::
After all that enjoyment, we've decided to get down to our books. daniel has also been encouraging us to study and we've kinda caught the bug from his studiousness. so yeap. david came to pick us up from the manors and we headed over to their place to study. david cooked dinner for us (not bad for his first try but can be improved) and then we went to indooroopilly to watch a movie at night. :) went back to the manors to pick jolene up and then we were reunited! haha. it was a great movie and a great time also. then we squashed ourselves into their car and they sent us home. :)
:: Saturday ::
Despite the late night movie, daisy, jolene and i managed to crawl out of bed early in the morning to make our way to the west end saturday market. heh. i managed to lead the way to the market and hence, commenced our grocery shopping. we kinda learnt our lesson though that if you want to get fresh groceries, we definitely have to get up earlier and reach there earlier because a lot of things we already sold out by the time we got there. anyhow, we had to get some of the stuff for the barbeque that evening so yep, shopped a bit before we decided to have breakfast. however, it was such a hot day and there were too many people queueing for langos (hungarian snack) so we gave up and decided to try it again some other time.

When we got back, i started preparing a little for the bbq and then went down to jolene's apt to borrow her fridge's space cos ours was packed. and then i ended up talking to her for a good long duration before we headed back to my apt. i ended up not taking nap (which i intended to because i haven't been having enough rest) because i started making lunch. and by the time we settled down, it was about time to go out for the next round of grocery shopping with the guys. so we took a bus and met them at toowong village. tried to look for ink cartridge because mine was running out but they didn't sell it so then we just went to meet the guys downstairs at the supermarket.
As we shopped, we played around in the supermarket and snapped some photos as well. hahas. here goes...

We hung out too late so we gave the morning mass a miss. Evening mass was the target. The whole of Sunday was just nuah-ing and relaxing at home with some studying and preparing for the week. Not to mention, all the printing of the neverending notes. Jeez... Lecture notes, Tutorials, Prescribed Readings and Additional Readings... They never seem to end! I think this is about the most reading I will have to do in the whole of my 21 years on this earth!
So Jolene and I mustered all our strength and climbed the two steep slopes up to church. By the time we got there, we were drenched in perspiration! Only to end up fanning ourselves non-stop due to the lack of ventilation in the church. but we still got by. By the time mass was over, the weather was much cooler and it was rather breezy so we had a nice walk home...

daisy's parents were leaving today so we went to get the last minute stuff like fans and books! first things first we went to QU books in toowong to get our textbooks. supposed to meet daniel and david there but they didn't get there in time (cos daniel was taking his own sweet time bathing). so we decided to meet at toowong. searched kmart for the fans but they ran out of it so we rushed to indooroopilly. so we ended up meeting them there. instead of searching kmart, we started off at target since we were parked in the basement. found the fans there so we bought 3 (one for me, one for daisy and one for jolene) then went to woolly's to get the other groceries. :) after that it was back to my place to test those fans. hahas. the guys were really helpful. they fixed up the fans for us and it was all set to go! weeee... so daisy and her parents went off to the city to return the car and go shopping i think. haha. and soooo... jolene came back to the manors to meet us and so did vanessa. and since it was still quite early and thursday's late night shopping, we decided to go ahead with our plans to go to DFO! that's the factory outlet by the brisbane airport! YAYY!

and yes, i don't think they look like twins.made lots of noise and cracked lots of jokes in the car. we had an exciting time! haha. shopping was alright but it wasn't that great. maybe cos i wasn't really in the shopping mood. oh yeah. we had lunch there. subway! hahas. shared with jolene. and it was hella filling still. :) cookies were yummy of cos. well then we decided to have dinner at my place cos i promised to cook them my speciality, SPAGHETTI! yummm... so went to woolly's to get some of the ingredients. heh.
so we had spagehetti (with my home-made tomato-based sauce), oven-baked portabello mushrooms with butter and mozerella cheese (courtesy of daniel) and boiled veggies! and we laughed and talked the night away! absolutely fabulous time well spent with everyone. oh yeah. not to forget trying to take the loneliness away from daisy cos her parents have left!

After all that enjoyment, we've decided to get down to our books. daniel has also been encouraging us to study and we've kinda caught the bug from his studiousness. so yeap. david came to pick us up from the manors and we headed over to their place to study. david cooked dinner for us (not bad for his first try but can be improved) and then we went to indooroopilly to watch a movie at night. :) went back to the manors to pick jolene up and then we were reunited! haha. it was a great movie and a great time also. then we squashed ourselves into their car and they sent us home. :)
:: Saturday ::
Despite the late night movie, daisy, jolene and i managed to crawl out of bed early in the morning to make our way to the west end saturday market. heh. i managed to lead the way to the market and hence, commenced our grocery shopping. we kinda learnt our lesson though that if you want to get fresh groceries, we definitely have to get up earlier and reach there earlier because a lot of things we already sold out by the time we got there. anyhow, we had to get some of the stuff for the barbeque that evening so yep, shopped a bit before we decided to have breakfast. however, it was such a hot day and there were too many people queueing for langos (hungarian snack) so we gave up and decided to try it again some other time.

yup! we still managed, with the sun in our eyes!When we got back, i started preparing a little for the bbq and then went down to jolene's apt to borrow her fridge's space cos ours was packed. and then i ended up talking to her for a good long duration before we headed back to my apt. i ended up not taking nap (which i intended to because i haven't been having enough rest) because i started making lunch. and by the time we settled down, it was about time to go out for the next round of grocery shopping with the guys. so we took a bus and met them at toowong village. tried to look for ink cartridge because mine was running out but they didn't sell it so then we just went to meet the guys downstairs at the supermarket.
As we shopped, we played around in the supermarket and snapped some photos as well. hahas. here goes...

:: Sunday ::
We hung out too late so we gave the morning mass a miss. Evening mass was the target. The whole of Sunday was just nuah-ing and relaxing at home with some studying and preparing for the week. Not to mention, all the printing of the neverending notes. Jeez... Lecture notes, Tutorials, Prescribed Readings and Additional Readings... They never seem to end! I think this is about the most reading I will have to do in the whole of my 21 years on this earth!
So Jolene and I mustered all our strength and climbed the two steep slopes up to church. By the time we got there, we were drenched in perspiration! Only to end up fanning ourselves non-stop due to the lack of ventilation in the church. but we still got by. By the time mass was over, the weather was much cooler and it was rather breezy so we had a nice walk home...
my week ends on a happy note and very excited for the first week of school to start! YAY! :)
